Strong license sales of WinSPC statistical process control software indicates increasing demand for quality control automation from manufacturing executives.
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. January 31, 2012—DataNet Quality Systems, developers of WinSPC® and QualTrend® quality control software, announce a sales increase of 26% from the prior fiscal year for its flagship statistical process control (SPC) software, WinSPC.
For the Fiscal Year 2012, new license sales of WinSPC to existing customers kept pace with net new customer sales activity. The strong organic growth was propelled by expanded deployments within DataNet Quality System’s customer base and continued re-investment into existing manufacturing processes. New customer acquisition performed strongly as well, with a rise in demand from manufacturers looking to move away from manual data collection and analysis into an automated SPC solution.
“We understood that an uncertain economic climate could lead some manufacturers to take a ‘wait-and-see’ approach to new capital investment, but the demonstrated return value of investing in quality and process improvement resulted in continued sales strength for our SPC solutions,” states Ned Greenberg, President at DataNet Quality Systems. “I am excited about our recent growth and see many positive external trends pointing towards sustained WinSPC sales momentum for the coming fiscal year.”
Several leading indicators support Greenberg’s assertion including recent data compiled by manufacturing analyst firm, LNS Research. “LNS Research expects to see continued strength in quality software sales and SPC for the manufacturing industry in 2013,” reports Matthew Littlefield, President and Principal Analyst. “Based on a survey of over 300 manufacturing executives between June and December of 2012, 28% of manufacturing companies are currently in the planning stages of adopting quality software.”
DataNet’s success has been due to its continued commitment to the manufacturing industry since the company’s founding as Detroit Gauge and Tool in 1941. Initially developed and launched in 1991, WinSPC debuted as the first Windows-based, real-time statistical process control software. For over 20 years, WinSPC has been used by quality professionals to reduce process variation, optimize manufacturing processes, and improve product quality. WinSPC collects process data from the shop floor and transforms it into real-time, actionable information for operators, quality personnel and manufacturing engineers. WinSPC uses patent-pending technology to transform shop floor data into cost-based reports. Quality professionals can leverage this information to demonstrate the value of making needed quality investments based on cost savings. Additionally, management can access Cost of Quality data in order to prioritize investment into the process improvements that yield the greatest cost savings for the company.
