Leading Contractor for Aerospace Defense Industry Selects WinSPC for Real-time Quality Control Initiative
The corporation is installing WinSPC where it will replace an existing SPC system. The initial WinSPC deployment will be at approximately 25 stations and will involve data collection from a variety of devices, including serial gauges such as micrometers and calipers, OGP smartscopes and CMMs. The company plans to chart the data in real-time to alert operators of out-of-control situations, trends and patterns that, if undetected, could lead to defective product. By responding to process variation in real time on the shop floor, the company expects to meet its continuous improvement goals.
DataNet’s engineering services group – known as the Solution Delivery team – is supplying custom programming services to migrate data from CMM and OGP machinery into WinSPC. Additionally, the Solution Delivery team will provide on-site training to seven system administrators who are responsible for configuring and managing the system. The two-day training provides all the essentials for the company’s Quality team to successfully administer real-time operations, off-line analysis and reporting on plant-wide quality metrics.
The company plans to roll out WinSPC to other sites during phase two of its Quality initiative. The company reports that one of the key reasons it chose WinSPC was because of its ease of use and administration.
