WinSPC can be configured for optimal use in practically any production or inspection set up.
For most customers, you will implement WinSPC where you have a 1:1 ratio of Collection Plans to Parts/Processes. This is often done for simplicity in configuration. So, if you have 5 Parts (such as 5 SKUs or 5 recipes or 5 products), you will also have 5 Collection Plans.
In the vast majority of cases, those Collection Plans will be named in the exact same way as your Part/Processes. However, you don’t need to organize your WinSPC environment in this way; Collection Plans and Parts/Processes are completely independent, and can exist in any many-to-many configuration you can imagine!
WinSPC Means Lower Costs and Higher Quality
WinSPC is software to help manufacturers create the highest quality product for the lowest possible cost. You can learn more here or try it free for 60 days.
For example, lets say you make 5 different Parts: Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter and Half-Dollar. Now, let us also suppose you have an inspector responsible for measuring Diameters, and nothing else. It might make more sense to have a single Collection Plan labeled ‘Diameters’ that contain the 5 Diameter variables for each of your different coins. This would represent a Many-to-One type of relationship between Parts and Collection Plans.
Conversely, maybe you have your 5 Parts, but within each of those parts, you have characteristics that are in-process checks, and others that are post-production quality checks. You can make, for each of your parts, 2 separate Collection Plans, separating the appropriate checks for the appropriate processes.
You can further simplify this setup by having the correct Collection Plan assigned to only the correct WinSPC Station, so that there is no risk in the operator opening the wrong Collection Plan, depending on where they are, either in Production or in the Quality Lab. This represents a One-to-Many type of relationship between Parts and Collection Plans.
