Marietta Hospitality is using WinSPC to deliver safe soaps and shampoos at a high quality.
In the competitive hospitality industry, hotel executives are keenly aware that they must provide premium guest amenities to satisfy demanding travelers. Amongst the most essential elements defining a superior hotel experience are fine soaps, shampoos and lotions presented for guests to enjoy.
These products are fundamental to guest satisfaction and hotel executives scrutinize collections of shampoos and bar soaps to ensure product quality and consistency. For more than 30 years, Marietta Corporation has been the go-to company to supply discerning hoteliers with the highest quality personal care products for their properties.
Founded in 1976, Marietta has established itself as a recognized industry leader in the development and manufacture of personal care guest amenities for leading hotel groups and independent properties. Marietta offers a broad selection of signature and licensed brand-name products that are geared to meet every hotel need from economy to luxury, from salon brands to green brands, from trusted and established brands to specialty-niche brands.
The company has also experienced substantial growth in its contracting manufacturing business unit. Since its inception, Marietta has provided turnkey manufacturing solutions for many of the world’s leading consumer product companies and has become an industry recognized supplier. From the trial sized shampoo bottle in your hotel room to some of the most recognized consumer brands in the country, Marietta is positioned for further growth and has aligned its quality goals to match.
Marietta’s market leading position was born from innovation and superior service. The company has always been focused on creating additional value for customers while simultaneously refining the company’s own day-to-day operations. With an eye towards continuous improvement, a team comprised of quality, manufacturing and IT personnel at Marietta launched a WinSPC implementation to standardize SPC methods across its five US-based, FDA-regulated production facilities.
By providing real-time access to shop-floor data for both their bottle filling operations and bar soap manufacturing lines, WinSPC will help facilitate Marietta’s migration from their current paper-based data collection and analysis to a more robust quality control solution. The phased implementation will lead with the introduction of automated data collection to benchmark existing processes.
The benchmark data will then be analyzed by Marietta’s statisticians and quality personnel to establish a baseline of current process capabilities. Once complete, the baseline will be used to introduce new control procedures, complete with structured tests and triggers, which will be rolled out to all of Marietta’s 80 production lines.
When the new control procedures are established, the company plans on leveraging WinSPC to improve quality by enhancing its monitoring of production lines, most notably within the company’s filling operations. By introducing real-time access to process data through WinSPC, the team expects that product quality trends will be identified sooner, minimizing product risk and maximizing efficiency and effectiveness of their operations.
The quality team also sees WinSPC as supportive of their significant expansion into additional markets by diversifying their product mix to incorporate more regulated products. Expanding into regulated markets is a growth opportunity for Marietta, but also introduces additional compliance requirements.
WinSPC will help facilitate these expansion goals by enhancing Marietta’s existing documentation procedures and by replacing previously complex report generation activities with automated reports that are available at the click of a button. In direct contrast to their existing paper-based process, the ability to quickly and dynamically query Marietta’s historical production data and compile the results into impactful reports will result in smoother audits and a faster time-to-market for new products.
“We are excited about helping Marietta Corporation reduce the cost of manufacturing while at the same time ensuring that its tradition of delivering high quality care products continues,” said DataNet president, Ned Greenberg. “We expect that Marietta will enjoy a quick return on this investment through automating many of its current quality and reporting activities and by making compliance with new customer requirements far easier to achieve.”
