WinSPC’s Cost Inspector™ can identify which process inefficiencies are costing manufacturing operations the most.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued Patent No. 9,020,625 for the WinSPC Cost Inspector – an innovative software tool that allows users to assess how manufacturing process improvements translate into bottom-line dollars saved.
WinSPC’s Cost Inspector™ can identify which process inefficiencies are costing manufacturing operations the most. The Cost Inspector translates quality information about current production capability into dollar savings from potential process improvement, providing a clear method of prioritization and justification for investment. The Cost Inspector allows users to visually characterize the cost of variability or offset-of-mean in high volume production environments. This capability can identify enormous savings that would remain invisible with traditional tools that require financial and production data to be considered independently.
The Cost Inspector provides charts and reports enabling users to query and rank products, processes, and characteristics based on cost metrics. For example, the WinSPC Cost Inspector delivers answers to questions like:
- Which processes have the highest cost of variability, that is, the cost attributed to not producing every unit right on target?
- What process mean would deliver the lowest per-unit cost?
- How much can be saved by reducing variability or process mean offset by 10%, 20%, or 30%?
By harnessing the power of WinSPC’s Cost Inspector, manufacturing professionals can clearly prioritize projects and demonstrate bottom-line savings to support investment in quality initiatives.
