DataNet Quality Systems, developer of WinSPC Statistical Process Control Software, announced today that it was awarded the first ever ISA “President’s Award” for “Most Innovative New Technology Product” at ISA TECH97 in Anaheim California.
ISA, the international society for measurement and control, is a leader in technology exchange for instrumentation, control and automation and has sponsored yearly conferences and exhibitions since 1947 showcasing the most innovative measurement and control technologies for manufacturers.
At ISA TECH97, a volunteer panel of industry experts selected the most innovative products for inclusion in a Technology Innovators Center. Five companies were presented awards based upon the degree of innovation and the impact the innovation would have on the future of the measurement and control industry. DataNet Quality Systems (DQS) won top honors as the most innovative technology product of the year for WinSPC® C/S Enterprise, a client/server, real-time Statistical Process Control software product. The four honorable mentions included software products from Sun Microsystems, Honeywell IAC, Honeywell Analytical and PC Soft Int’l.
“We are gratified that ISA recognized the significant new technologies WinSPC C/S Enterprise brings to manufacturers of precision products,” said Ned Greenberg, Vice President of DQS.“ The longstanding goal of SPC has been to make real-time adjustments based upon statistical analysis to keep a process in control. In practice, however, SPC has been reactive, identifying non-conformance after the fact and resulting in corrective action after even further delay. Now, for the first time with WinSPC C/S, an SPC system can provide intelligent feedback to automate corrective action based upon real-time analysis. Utilizing DDE, OLE Automation and the new OLE for Process Control specifications for interoperability, WinSPC C/S can provide intelligent feedback to external manufacturing control software and hardware, permitting real-time corrective responses in automated processes. This type of closed loop control makes the longstanding goal of preventive process management a reality. At DQS, we call it ‘Deming’s dream come true,’” Greenberg added.
WinSPC C/S includes a number of other technological innovations as well: it uses native drivers for multiple SQL databases; automatically switches to local data collection if the server or network fails and automatically posts to the server upon recovery; monitors data from multiple parts or processes on a single CPU; and collects data directly from CMMs, CNCs and PLCs.
